Disneyland Paris Attraction
Welcome to those of you joing me from Mommy Mouseketeer and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.
Our topic this month is what attraction, parade or show at Disneyland Paris would we like to see at the Disney parks in the US. My choice would be an attraction simliar to ones that once graced the US theme parks in their early days. That attraction is Les Mysteres du Nautilus. Les Mystères du Nautilus (French for "The Mysteries of the Nautilus") is a walkthrough attraction at Disneyland Paris. It is an updated version of the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea walkthrough attraction that was at Disneyland in the early 1950s, based upon the film of the same name. This attraction takes guests throughout the various rooms of Captain Nemo's submarine, especially those seen in the film.
Captain Nemo and the Nautilis has been missing from the US theme parks for many years to the dismay of many of it’s fans. The original in Disneyland California morphed into a modern named Nemo, with the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. The Disney World, 20,000 Leagues attraction, closed in 1996 because the ride wasn’t sustainable. Was the technology ahead of it’s time? Possibly. High maintenance costs, lack of ADA compliance, and low loading time are a few reasons cited for its closure. However, a Nautilis walkthrough like the one in Paris seems a great and simple way to bring this historic Disney live-action adventure movie back to the parks in the US. Surely we Americans haven’t forgotten Captain Nemo, Ned Land, Vulcania, Rura Penthe, and that dreaded giant squid. In my opinion, Hollywood Studios would be the perfect place to put this attraction as it represents old-school Hollywood films.
Thank you for joining me today. Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is The Disney Point.
